2B is the term used by the ASTM A480 standard to define “a smooth,
moderately reflective cold-rolled annealed and pickled or descaled
finish typically produced by imparting a final light cold-rolled
pass using polished rolls.” It is the most widely-used stainless
steel finish available today.

| Advantages | Corrosion Resistance – Chromium is the alloying element that
imparts to Stainless Steel their corrosion resistant qualities.
Fire and Heat Resistance – Special high chromium and nickel-alloyed
grades resist scaling and retain high strength at high
temperatures. |
2B: This is achieved by cold rolling, heat treating and pickling,
along with the application of a light rolling at the end in order
to achieve a smooth and reflective sheen. Considered the most
widely used surface finish, 2B is the basis for most polished and
brushed finishes.

What Grit is a 2B finish?
2B material, the finisher would use 120-150 grit belt or drum on
the linear finisher to set the scratch and then finish with a fine
or 180-220 fleece nonwoven drum or a fine belt.
